TEAM GYMNASTICS
WHATEVER YOUR 100% LOOKS LIKE…GIVE IT
When one class per week isn’t enough for your child, it’s time for the next step in the sport of gymnastics, TEAM. This means more time in the gym, longer training sessions, and competitions. Whether your child competes at our Legion Expo, local events or state meets, it is our mission to bring out the champion in every athlete we train. While winning is fun and is a true aim, Legion Team Gymnastics offers much more. For our champions, we promote teamwork, dedication, discipline, pride and confidence. It’s what we call Legion Life.
RECREATIONAL
In the recreational (class) program, classes and training are based on age and skill ability. In the team program, ability and aptitude alone determines placement. How long a child stays in each class depends upon their skill development, form, work ethic, and readiness for the next challenge. We start slow, with more time on all events, and learn the foundation of the sport as well as the basics of the competition arena.
COMPULSORY
The sport of the competitive gymnastics compulsory program is designed to teach root skills, which are essential to higher level gymnastics. This is learned at the beginning levels of competition. The routines are all the same (nationwide), hence the name “compulsory” program. Your child will compete the same routines as other gymnasts at competitions, with the highest score coming from the most precise performance. Perfect the basics, and you will excel.
OPTIONALS
Once a gymnast has mastered the compulsory levels, they proceed to the next level of competition, the optional levels. While there are a few mandatory elements, gymnasts and coaches are given options that best suit the strengths and abilities of a specific athlete. These “optional” skills make up their routines. This helps to balance more difficult skills while continuing to focus on perfect execution.
