LOA’s tumbling classes foster progressive advancement of skills through training including stretching, spotted and assisted tumbling, technique drills, and muscle memory by strength and conditioning. Our coaches focus on instructing proper technique for safety and mastering skills through levels. Athletes progress through levels after skills are mastered and measured by skills evaluations.

TUMBLING CLASSES

LEVEL ONE

This class is for athletes that are new to tumbling with no experience. This is a starter class to build basic tumbling skills and begin developing correct tumbling technique. Athletes will master: forward roll, backward roll, back extension roll, valdez, handstand, cartwheel, round off, front walkover, and back walkover. Athletes will begin working on the back handspring.

CLASS REQUIREMENTS: None

LEVEL TWO

This class is for students who have mastered all the skills in level 1 tested through a skills evaluation including demonstrating a standing back handspring without a spot. Athletes will master: standing back handspring, standing multiple back handsprings, round-off back handspring, multiple round-off back handsprings, back walkover back handspring, front walkover back handspring. Athletes will begin working on the round-off tuck.

CLASS REQUIREMENTS: Standing back handspring with strong technique

LEVEL THREE

This class is for athletes who have mastered the skills in levels 1 and 2 through a skills evaluation. Athletes will master: standing tuck, cartwheel tuck, round-off tuck, round-off back handspring back tuck, 1 to tuck, 2 to tuck, front punch, ariel, and forward round-off back handspring tuck. Additionally, athletes will work on toe touch back handsprings, toe touch back tuck, series back handsprings to a tuck, and standing back handspring back tuck. Athletes will begin working on the layout.

CLASS REQUIREMENTS: Round-off tuck

LEVEL FOUR

This class is for athletes who have mastered all skills in levels 1, 2 and 3 through a skills evaluation. Athletes will master: round-off layout, round-off back handspring layout, 1 to layout, round-off back handspring whip back handspring, 2 to layout, front punch step out, round of back handspring whip-whip. Athletes should demonstrate a strong round-off back handspring layout. Athletes will begin working on a full.

CLASS REQUIREMENTS: Standing tuck and round-off back handspring layout

LEVEL FIVE

This class is the most advanced tumbling class and is for athletes who have mastered all skills in levels 1, 2, 3 and 4. Athletes will master all twisting skills and work on elite passes such as a double full and combination passes. Athletes will also work elite standing tumbling such as a standing full and series back handsprings to a full / double full.

CLASS REQUIREMENTS: Round-off back handspring full and triple toe touch to a standing tuck
